Leptorhynchos

Messelornis cristata was an Eocene rail-like bird from the Messel Pit, Germany. Related to modern rails or finfoots, this beautifully preserved Messel fossil shows a small waterbird with distinctive cranial crest, inhabiting subtropical lake margins in early Eocene Europe.
