† Gymnogyps kofordi — an extinct Pleistocene condor from North America. Large scavenging carnivore; named after mammalogist Carl Koford. Related to the California condor. G. kofordi was among the multiple Pleistocene condor species that went extinct following megafaunal collapse ~12,000 years ago.
