Avipeda

Avipeda is an extinct accipitrid genus known from Eocene or Oligocene deposits of the United States. This carnivorous hawk represents early diversification of the cuckoo-hawk lineage (Perninae) in North America. Living Avipeda species are found in Asia and Africa, and the fossil record suggests a broader historical distribution for this raptor group.
