<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="bathornis-fricki"></dinofyi-dinosaur>Bathornis fricki is an extinct cariamiform bird from Oligocene deposits of the Great Plains, United States. This small to medium carnivorous ground bird is known from tarsal and tibiotarsal material and represents one of several Bathornis species that inhabited the open habitats of Paleogene North America. It contributes to understanding the diversification of predatory terrestrial birds.
Diet & Feeding
Bathornis fricki was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
