† Fulica rufifrons — the red-fronted coot of Argentina and Chile, a living Rallidae. Aquatic herbivore-omnivore with a distinctive red frontal shield. Fossil specimens from Argentine Pleistocene deposits record the long-term presence of this species in southern South America.
