† Hadrogyps aigialeus — an extinct Miocene Old World vulture relative from North America. Large scavenging carnivore. The presence of vulture-like birds in Miocene North America before New World vultures rose to dominance is scientifically significant. Known from fragmentary material.
Diet & Feeding
Hadrogyps aigialeus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
