Wingegyps cartellei is the type species of Wingegyps, an extinct New World vulture from Pleistocene cave deposits of Brazil. This large teratorn-like bird inhabited lowland South America during the megafaunal era, likely feeding on large mammal carcasses.
Diet & Feeding
Wingegyps cartellei was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
