Argillipes

Argillipes

†Argillipes is a genus of small shorebird ichnotaxa (fossil tracks) from the Eocene of Europe, attributed to wading birds probing muddy lake margins. These delicate tridactyl impressions with thin digit marks are characteristic of small waders. Their presence in Eocene European lake deposits documents the early diversification of shorebird-like avians in the Paleogene, shortly after the end-Cretaceous extinction.
