<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="coturnix-gomerae"></dinofyi-dinosaur>Coturnix gomerae is an extinct quail (Phasianidae) from La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, known from Quaternary cave bone deposits. A ground-foraging granivore of laurel forest and grassland habitats, it was part of the pre-human avifauna of the western Canary Islands. Extinction likely followed the arrival of Guanche settlers around 1000 BCE and subsequent habitat alteration. It is one of several island quails lost across the Atlantic Macaronesian archipelagos.
