Carcharodontosaurus iguidensis

Carcharodontosaurus iguidensis

† Carcharodontosaurus iguidensis was a species of the giant theropod Carcharodontosaurus from the Late Cretaceous Echkar Formation of Niger. Potentially reaching 13–14 m in length, it was among the largest carnivorous dinosaurs known from Africa. Distinguished from the Moroccan C. saharicus by subtle cranial differences, this species co-existed with the equally colossal Spinosaurus in the Saharan delta ecosystem. Named for the Iguidi Desert region where its fossils were found.
