Calcardea junnei

Calcardea junnei

† Calcardea junnei is an extinct bird from Paleogene fossil deposits of the United States, classified as a carnivore of uncertain systematic affinity. Known from limited skeletal material, it represents part of the early Cenozoic avian fauna of North America during a period of rapid avian diversification following the end-Cretaceous mass extinction. The species name honors a contributor to the study of early Cenozoic vertebrates from its discovery locality.
