Callonetta is a monotypic duck genus containing the ringed teal (Callonetta leucophrys), a small herbivorous waterfowl of South American tropical forest streams. Fossil material from Argentina documents the genus through the Quaternary. The ringed teal inhabits flooded forests and marsh edges, feeding on aquatic plants, seeds, and invertebrates.
