Camarasauridae

Camarasauridae

† Camarasauridae was a family of macronarian sauropod dinosaurs known primarily from the Late Jurassic of North America and Europe, with possible Early Cretaceous representatives in China. These large, quadrupedal herbivores were characterized by deep skulls with large nasal openings and robust, spoon-shaped teeth well suited for processing tough vegetation. The family included the well-known genus Camarasaurus, the most common large dinosaur in the Morrison Formation of North America.
