Camarasaurus lentus

† Camarasaurus lentus was a medium-sized species of the macronarian sauropod Camarasaurus from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation of the United States. Smaller than its relatives C. supremus and C. grandis, it was a quadrupedal herbivore estimated at roughly 15 m in length. Its species name 'lentus' (slow, supple) reflects the perceived gracility of its build compared to other species. C. lentus specimens have provided valuable ontogenetic data on sauropod growth rates.
