Discovered in the Kota Formation of Telangana from the remains of at least twelve individuals, it displays transitional features between basal sauropodomorphs and true sauropods, offering a window on the early evolution of the long-necked giants.
† Kotasaurus yamanpalliensisはインド産の前期ジュラ紀の竜脚形類で、既知の竜脚類の中で最も古いものの一つである。テランガーナ州のコタ層で発見され、基盤的竜脚形類と真の竜脚類の間の過渡的特徴を示し、少なくとも12個体の遺骸が一緒に見つかった。
