† Calciavis grandei is an extinct bird from the Eocene Green River Formation of Wyoming, United States. One of the best-preserved early Cenozoic birds from North America, it is classified within or near the roller-like (Coraciiformes) lineage. Known from a complete, articulated skeleton, it provides significant data on early avian diversification in North America. The species is named in honor of Lance Grande, a prominent authority on Green River Formation fossil fauna.

Carnivore

Calciavis grandei was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
