An extinct harrier from Pleistocene North America, Circus dossenus was a carnivorous raptor allied to living harriers (genus Circus). Known from Quaternary fossil deposits in the United States, this medium-sized hawk hunted small vertebrates over open grasslands and marshes, contributing to the Pleistocene raptor assemblage of North America.
Diet & Feeding
Circus dossenus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
