Pachydyptes ponderosus was a giant Eocene penguin from New Zealand, among the largest penguins ever. This massive Eocene penguin weighed an estimated 100+kg and stood ~1.5m tall, demonstrating that giant penguin body sizes were achieved early in penguin evolution.
