Agelaius tricolor, the Tricolored Blackbird, is a living colonial nesting bird of California and northern Baja California. About 19-24cm long, males are striking black with red-and-white shoulder patches. Once numbering millions, the species has declined dramatically due to agricultural habitat loss. It is the most colonial landbird in North America, nesting in huge mixed flocks.
Diet & Feeding
Agelaius tricolor was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
