<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="botauroides-parvus"></dinofyi-dinosaur>Botauroides parvus is an extinct small bittern from Eocene deposits of the Bridger Basin, Wyoming, United States. This piscivorous wading bird is known from partial limb bones and represents one of the earliest fossil records of ardeiform birds in North America. Its small size suggests it occupied a different ecological niche from larger heron-relatives that co-inhabited Eocene wetlands.
Diet & Feeding
Botauroides parvus was a fish-eating dinosaur. Piscivores typically lived near water sources and had specialized adaptations such as elongated snouts and conical teeth for catching fish.
