Camptodontornis yangi

† Camptodontornis yangi was an Early Cretaceous enantiornithine bird from China. Enantiornithines were the dominant bird group of the Mesozoic, diverse and globally distributed, but they vanished at the end-Cretaceous mass extinction. Named for its curved teeth (Greek: kamptos, bent; odontos, tooth), this species was a small carnivorous tree-dweller feeding on insects, small vertebrates, or fish. Its Chinese provenance reflects the exceptional enantiornithine diversity of the Jehol Biota deposits.

Camptodontornis yangi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
