Camptosaurus dispar

† Camptosaurus dispar is the type species of Camptosaurus, an iguanodontian ornithopod from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation of Wyoming and Colorado. Estimated at up to 7.9 m long, this facultatively bipedal herbivore had broad, horse-hoof-like digits, a robust body, and leaf-shaped teeth. First described by Othniel Charles Marsh in 1885 from material collected at Como Bluff, Wyoming, it remains one of the best-known Jurassic ornithopods and a key taxon for understanding the early evolution of iguanodontians.
