†Archaeospheniscus wimani was an Eocene penguin from Antarctica, known from the La Meseta Formation of Seymour Island. A medium-sized piscivore-cephalopod hunter, it inhabited the warmer Eocene Southern Ocean before the major Eocene–Oligocene cooling. Named in honor of palaeontologist Carl Wiman, it represents the diversity of penguin genera that characterised Eocene Antarctic marine ecosystems.
