Ardenna buchananbrowni

Ardenna buchananbrowni

†Ardenna buchananbrowni was an extinct shearwater (family Procellariidae) from New Zealand. A pelagic carnivore feeding on fish and squid over the open ocean, its subfossil bones recovered from New Zealand coastal cave and dune deposits document the former breeding distribution of this shearwater species. Its extinction is linked to Polynesian and European rat and predator introductions.
