Artemisiospiza belli

Artemisiospiza belli

†Artemisiospiza belli (Bell's Sparrow) has subfossil records from the United States documenting its prehistoric range. A small granivore-insectivore restricted to arid sagebrush habitats of the western United States, it feeds primarily on seeds and insects. Subfossil deposits provide palaeontological baseline data against which current range contractions driven by sagebrush habitat loss can be assessed.
