Athene veta is an extinct owl from Pleistocene or Holocene deposits of Hungary. This small carnivorous strigiform is closely related to the little owl (Athene noctua) and represents part of the Quaternary Central European raptor community that inhabited open steppe and woodland margins during glacial and interglacial cycles.
Diet & Feeding
Athene veta was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
