<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="bathornis"></dinofyi-dinosaur>Bathornis is an extinct genus of small phorusrhacid terror birds or cariamiform birds from Eocene and Oligocene deposits of North America. These carnivorous cursorial birds stood roughly 50–70 cm tall and hunted small vertebrates on open plains. Bathornis species represent an early radiation of predatory ground birds in North America following the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary.
Diet & Feeding
Bathornis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
