Bathornis geographicus

Bathornis geographicus is an extinct cariamiform bird from Eocene deposits of North America. This small carnivorous cursorial bird is known from hindlimb elements and represents an early radiation of running predatory birds on the continent. Its geographic distribution across the Great Plains suggests it was widespread in open Paleogene environments of Laurentian North America.
