Boreortalis laesslei

Boreortalis laesslei is an extinct cracid-like galliform bird from Eocene or Oligocene deposits of Florida, United States. This herbivorous or omnivorous ground bird is known from tarsometatarsal material and represents one of the early fossil records of cracid-like birds in North America. Its discovery in subtropical Florida suggests warm-climate forest habitats in the Paleogene.
