Dasornis abdoun

Dasornis abdoun

†Dasornis abdoun is an extinct pelagornithid seabird from Eocene phosphate deposits of Morocco. Its bony pseudo-teeth and large wingspan — estimated at over 4 m — made it a formidable aerial fish-hunter over ancient Tethyan seas. Its North African occurrence demonstrates the broad paleogeographic range of pelagornithids.
