†Dorypaltus is an extinct carnivorous bird from Cenozoic deposits of the United States, known from fragmentary tarsometatarsal material. Classified among early raptorial birds or falconiform relatives, it contributes to the poorly resolved record of predatory birds in North American Paleogene ecosystems. Its taxonomic affinities and exact diet remain under study.
Diet & Feeding
Dorypaltus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
