† Erolia penepusilla — an extinct calidrid sandpiper from Pleistocene North America. Small shorebird; carnivorous forager on marine invertebrates. Related to extant Calidris sandpipers. Represents the Pleistocene diversity of North American shorebirds before Holocene climate changes reduced specie.
Diet & Feeding
Erolia penepusilla was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
