† Microraptor gui was a four-winged dromaeosaurid (~55cm, ~1kg) from the Early Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation of Liaoning, China. Its hindwings of long flight feathers on the legs demonstrated that a 'four-winged' gliding phase may have occurred in early bird evolution.
