Struthio asiaticus is an extinct Miocene to Pliocene ostrich from central Asia, including Turkmenistan, demonstrating that the ostrich lineage had a far broader geographic range before becoming restricted to Africa. Its fossils document Neogene ratite dispersal.

Struthio asiaticus was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
