Bumbalavis anatoides

Bumbalavis anatoides

† Bumbalavis anatoides is an extinct bird from fossil deposits in Mongolia, classified as an herbivore. The name references its duck-like (anatoides) morphological features. It is known from limited material and is considered part of the Paleogene avifauna of Central Asia. Its herbivorous diet and Mongolian provenance suggest it inhabited wetland or grassland environments of the ancient Tethyan margin during the early Cenozoic.
