Calvarius rapidus

† Calvarius rapidus was a rhabdodontid ornithopod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Spain. Rhabdodontids were medium-sized bipedal herbivores endemic to the European archipelago of the Late Cretaceous, browsing on tough, fibrous vegetation with their robust teeth. The species epithet 'rapidus' may indicate inferred agility. Its discovery adds to the distinctive Ibero-Armorican dinosaur fauna, which evolved in partial isolation on Late Cretaceous European islands.
