† Fulica ardesiaca — the Andean coot, a living Rallidae from the high-altitude wetlands of Chile and Bolivia. Aquatic herbivore-omnivore foraging on aquatic vegetation and invertebrates. Fossil records from Chilean Pleistocene deposits document its presence throughout the Andes during glacial cycl.
Diet & Feeding
Fulica ardesiaca was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
