Pachyplichas jagmi was a wren from Quaternary New Zealand, a close relative of the existing Rifleman (Acanthisitta chloris). This tiny insectivore with reduced wings inhabited forest undergrowth and was extirpated after Polynesian colonization introduced rats.
Diet & Feeding
Mesembriornis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
