Amphispiza is a genus of sparrows (family Passerellidae) with both living and fossil species from North America. The genus includes the living Black-throated Sparrow and Sage Sparrow. Fossil species from the Pliocene and Pleistocene of the American West document the ancient history of these desert-adapted sparrows. Their lineage evolved in the arid scrublands of western North America.
Diet & Feeding
