Changpeipus bartholomaii

† Changpeipus bartholomaii is an ichnospecies of large theropod footprints from the Middle Jurassic of Australia, named in honour of vertebrate palaeontologist Alan Bartholomai. Each three-toed track reaches up to 55 cm in length, indicating a substantial carnivorous dinosaur. These tracks represent some of the oldest dinosaur trace fossils from Australia, providing evidence of large theropods inhabiting Gondwanan landmasses during the Jurassic.

Changpeipus bartholomaii was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
