Acanthis is a genus of finch-like passerine birds (family Fringillidae) known from both extant and extinct species. The genus includes redpolls such as the Common Redpoll and Lesser Redpoll. Fossil representatives from the Pleistocene and Pliocene of Europe extend the genus's history. Small seed-eating birds adapted to cold northern climates.
