Agelaius xanthomus, the Yellow-shouldered Blackbird, is an endangered icterid bird endemic to Puerto Rico and Mona Island. About 20-23cm long, males are black with a distinctive yellow shoulder patch. Listed as Endangered, it faces threats from habitat loss, nest parasitism by the Shiny Cowbird, and introduced predators. Conservation programs include predator control and captive breeding.
