Alopochen kervazoi is an extinct giant goose from Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. This large, probably flightless or weakly-flying waterfowl became extinct after European colonization in the 17th century. Known from subfossil material, it was much larger than modern Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca). Its extinction is attributed to hunting and introduced predators.
Diet & Feeding
Alopochen kervazoi was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
