Amphipelargus is an extinct genus of large stork-like birds (family Ciconiidae) from the Miocene and Pliocene of Europe and Asia. These large wading birds inhabited wetland and open habitats. Several species are known from Neogene deposits across Eurasia, documenting the diversity of stork-like birds before the modern ciconiid genera became established during the Pliocene.
Diet & Feeding
Amphipelargus was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
