Anabernicula gracilenta is an extinct small duck from the Pleistocene of North America. A gracile dabbling duck from freshwater habitats, it was named by Miller in 1944. Known from fossil material in the Great Plains, it inhabited the glacial lakes and wetlands of Pleistocene North America alongside other waterfowl. Its lineage may have merged into surviving teal or small dabbling duck species.
Diet & Feeding
Anabernicula gracilenta was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
