Anas chathamica

Anas chathamica is an extinct duck that lived on the Chatham Islands east of New Zealand. A moderately large dabbling duck, it became extinct following Polynesian (Moriori) settlement of the islands around 500-800 CE. Known from subfossil material, it was one of several endemic Chatham Island birds lost due to hunting and habitat destruction, well before European arrival.
