Anas pachyscelus

Anas pachyscelus is an extinct heavy-legged duck from Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. Named by Mourer-Chauviré et al. in 1999, it was a large island duck that became flightless or weakly flighted in the absence of terrestrial predators. It went extinct following European colonization of Réunion in the 17th century. Its robust leg bones gave the species its name.
