Anas talarae is an extinct duck from the Pliocene of northern Peru. Known from coastal Pliocene marine and estuarine deposits of the Talara region, it was a South American freshwater or coastal dabbling duck. Its discovery contributes to knowledge of the ancient Pacific Coast avifauna of South America and the pre-Pleistocene waterfowl fauna of the Andes-Pacific ecosystem.
Diet & Feeding
Anas talarae was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
