Anas talarae

Anas talarae is an extinct duck from the Pliocene of northern Peru. Known from coastal Pliocene marine and estuarine deposits of the Talara region, it was a South American freshwater or coastal dabbling duck. Its discovery contributes to knowledge of the ancient Pacific Coast avifauna of South America and the pre-Pleistocene waterfowl fauna of the Andes-Pacific ecosystem.
