Argoides macrodactylus

Argoides macrodactylus

†Argoides macrodactylus is a dinosaur ichnospecies from the Early Jurassic of Connecticut or Massachusetts, United States, characterised by notably large digit impressions. These large-footed tracks are attributed to a medium to large bipedal dinosaur. Found in Hartford Basin redbeds, their morphology may indicate a prosauropod or early ornithopod trackmaker, adding to the ichnotaxonomic diversity of the Newark Supergroup.

Time Period

Jurassic Early Mesozoic Era

Argoides macrodactylus lived during the Jurassic Early period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 201.4 to 174.7 million years ago.

After the Triassic-Jurassic extinction, dinosaurs rapidly diversified and became the dominant land vertebrates. Early sauropods and theropods began to evolve larger body sizes.
