Coelurosaurichnus palyssi

Coelurosaurichnus palyssi

A Middle Triassic ichnospecies from France, Coelurosaurichnus palyssi represents tridactyl footprints of small coelurosaur-like archosaurs. Regarded by some as a variant spelling of C. palissyi, its French Middle Triassic provenance makes it significant for documenting the early appearance of narrow-gauge bipedal locomotion among archosaur precursors of the dinosaur lineage.

Time Period

Triassic Middle Mesozoic Era

Coelurosaurichnus palyssi lived during the Triassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 247.2 to 237.0 million years ago.

The middle Triassic saw the continued recovery of life and the emergence of early dinosauriforms. Archosaurs diversified into the ancestors of both dinosaurs and crocodilians.
